SENT, UIT and AT code: does your load need one?
Three countries track certain loads on the road with a code that has to travel with the truck. Check in seconds whether your trip needs one, who has to declare it and how long it is valid.

Guidance only, with the rules as of 2/10/2026. If in doubt, ask the sender or customs.
SENT (Poland)
SENT is the Polish customs system for monitoring the road transport of sensitive goods: fuels and mineral oils, heating fuel, vegetable oils, tobacco, coal, some foods (poultry, eggs, honey, frozen fruit, grain) and, since 17 March 2026, clothing and footwear, each with its own threshold.
The sender declares it when the load leaves Poland, the recipient when it arrives there, and the carrier in transit. You may not set off without the SENT number, which is valid for 10 days, and your position has to be sent throughout the journey, for example with the e-TOLL PL app.
Fines: 10,000–20,000 zł for the company and 5,000–7,500 zł for the driver.

e-Transport, UIT (Romania)
RO e-Transport is the system of the Romanian tax agency (ANAF). An international transport that loads or unloads in Romania, with a vehicle of 2.5 t or more, needs a UIT code if the load exceeds 500 kg gross or 10,000 lei; inside Romania, only goods of high fiscal risk do.
The Romanian party declares it — the supplier if the goods leave Romania, the buyer if they enter — and gives you the code. It is valid for 5 days, or 15 if the goods enter Romania. You enter it in the e-Transport app and keep location on until you deliver or leave the country.
Fines: 10,000–100,000 lei for the company and 5,000–10,000 lei for the driver. Transit without loading or unloading in Romania is not declared, as far as we have been able to confirm.

AT code (Portugal)
In Portugal, goods moving between businesses inside the country travel with a transport document that the sender reports to the tax authority (AT) before departure. The AT returns a code that goes on the document (Decree-Law 147/2003).
The sender issues it, but the carrier has to ask for it and be able to show it on the spot; on the phone is fine. Intra-EU transports, exports and transit under customs procedures do not need it, and senders with a turnover below €100,000 issue it without a code.
Fines: €150–3,750, also for the carrier, and the goods and the vehicle can be seized.

Frequently asked questions
Can the driver get the code?
Usually not: SENT is declared by the sender or the recipient (the carrier only in transit through Poland), the UIT by the Romanian party and the AT code by the sender. Your part is to ask for it before setting off, check that it matches your plate and keep it at hand.
What happens if I am stopped without the code?
In all three countries the fine can reach the carrier or the driver too, not only whoever had to declare it, and in Portugal the goods and the vehicle can be seized. If the code has not arrived, do not set off: ask the sender or the recipient.
How does Cargoway help?
It tells you for each trip whether the load needs SENT, UIT or an AT code and who declares it, keeps the codes with the trip with a QR scanner, and counts down the days until they expire.
The codes of every trip, in your pocket
Cargoway checks SENT, UIT and AT for each trip, keeps the codes with a QR scanner and warns you before they expire. It also plans truck routes and makes your transport documents.
