CARGOWAY

Regulation (EC) 1072/2009, Art. 8

Cabotage calculator

Enter where and when you unloaded your international load and the cabotage operations you have done or plan to do. The calculator tells you how many you have left, the last day to start one and when the 4 days without cabotage end in each country.

Cabotage operations

The loading day of each one and the country where you do it.

Optional. If it was less than 4 days ago, the first operation of this trip may fall within the waiting days.

–Operations left
–Last day to start one

      The rules it applies

      3 operations in 7 days

After unloading an international load in another country, you can do up to 3 cabotage operations with the same vehicle, the last one starting no later than 7 days after that unloading (Art. 8.2).

Only one in each other country

Some or all of those operations can be done in other EU countries, but only one per country, and within 3 days of entering that country empty. The calculator checks the one-per-country rule; the 3 days depend on when you crossed the border.

      4 days without cabotage afterwards

Once your cabotage in a country is over, you cannot do cabotage there again with the same vehicle for 4 days (Art. 8.2a). They count from your last operation in that country.

      What it leaves out

Entering a country empty, the documents for each operation and national rules on top of the regulation. In a roadside check you must show the international trip and each operation, and the transports of the previous 4 days in that country. This is a planning aid, not legal advice.

Yes. Cargoway counts cabotage from the transport documents you issue or receive in the app: operations and waiting days per country, and a check folder ready to show.
