Regulation (EC) 561/2006
Driving and rest time calculator
Enter when you leave and how many hours of driving the run needs. The calculator splits the day the way the regulation requires — 45-minute breaks, 11-hour daily rests and the 10-hour extension if you use it — and gives you the real arrival time.
The rules it applies
4 h 30, then 45 minutes
After 4 h 30 of driving you need a break of at least 45 minutes (Art. 7). It can be split into 15 + 30 minutes, in that order; the calculator always uses the full break, so the estimate never comes out optimistic.
9 hours a day, 10 twice a week
Daily driving is limited to 9 hours and can be extended to 10 hours at most twice a week (Art. 6.1).
11 hours of daily rest
The regular daily rest is 11 hours (Art. 4 and 8). It can be split into 3 + 9 hours, or reduced to 9 hours up to three times between two weekly rests; the calculator uses the regular rest.
What it leaves out
The weekly limit (56 h), the fortnightly limit (90 h), weekly rest and multi-manning depend on your previous shifts, which only the tachograph records. Loading, unloading and waiting are working time, not driving. The tachograph is the legal record: this is a planning aid.
With the real route, in the app
In Cargoway Pro the hours at the wheel come from the truck route itself, calculated for your vehicle’s height, weight and axle load, so you don’t have to estimate them.
